Why the original board fails

The SB 16's subwoofer keeps a compact switch-mode supply energized around the clock waiting for a wake signal. Years of standby heat dry out its electrolytic capacitors; the supply can still idle but collapses when the amplifier tries to draw real current, so the unit blinks, resets, or plays faintly.
